Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, it’s a huge game. So huge that all it’s done is have press attention from various media outlets from nearly everywhere in the world. It’s now attracting all the wrong kinds of attention in France, where it would appear that around 6,000 copies were stolen – with tear gas and knives.

TF1, a French media outlet have stated that an armed robbery took place over the past weekend where nearly 6,000 copies of the game have been stolen. Two men crashed their car into an unspecified videogame cargeo before attacking the occupants of the car with tear gas and threatening them with a knife attack whilst the van was emptied of it’s goods.

The loot is believed to be worth approximately €400,000, which is roughly £350,000. Further reports detail that an additional attack took place in a different location, with the same format of abuse being used. So that’s around €800,000 worth of games stolen in two days. The hype around COD is huge and unfortunately unscruptlous people are trying to make a profit off of this, in heinous ways.
