Sony have announced that the Vita will be able to be used as an additional controller in some PlayStion 3 titles such as LittleBigPlanet 2 and Sly Cooper. What this means is that the handheld has the option of bringing features such as touchscreen compatibility to the PlayStation 3.

At first glance this would appear to rival the Wii U’s gamepad much like Microsoft’s SmartGlass app, however designing games around a controller that costs £220 would be foolish. What this is for is to enhance current games and support titles with duel releases across both systems.

Sly Cooper Thieves in Time for example has both a Vita and PS3 release. What gamers can do is use the Vita game and bring it too the big TV instead of the Vita’s smaller screen. This may sound expensive but Sony have announced Cross-Play which allows games bought on Vita or PlayStation 3 to be playable on the other console if a version is available.

Sly Cooper and PlayStation All-Star Battle Royale are just two tiles of many that have been announced with more to be announced when they become available.
