Japan, the home of video games. We in the gaming community have Japan to thank for our most passionate hobby and generally, it’s a pretty friendly country too. It is said you could leave your wallet or purse on a table at any restaurant and return later to find it still there or handed in. So it’s a pretty rare occasion when someone decides to rob someone, least of all an eight year old boy.

Late this Spring in Kyoto, an eight year old boy just happened to leave his handheld console and some games in a rest room. It was suspected to be a Nintendo portable. Supposing they would still be there when the child and his father returned to collect them, someone, rather then handing them in, decided to steal the whole lot.

By chance, the young boy and his father purchased a second hand copy of one of the games lost in a used game shop. When the the cartridge was popped into the console, it contained the exact same file details as the stolen one! The child’s first and last name. The store was only a short distant from where the boy had originally lost it. It became apparent fast that the thief had took the games and sold them in that very shop.

The father contacted the police and they were able to trace the seller of the stolen goods which turned out to be some fifty year old jobless nobody who was then arrested.
