Guitar Hero Returns?

Dan Winters of Activision has revealed that the Guitar Hero series may not be killed off after all, instead he insists that this is just a “hiatus”. In an interview with Gameindustry.biz he says that “Actually, just to clarify, we’re just putting Guitar Hero on hiatus, we’re not ending it,” and that “we’ll continue to sustain the channel, the brand won’t go away. We’re just not making a new one for next year, that’s all.”

When Activision announced that it was ending current productions of the series in February 500 jobs were lost and that the business unit operating the franchise would be disbanded due to “the continued declines in the music genre”. By the sounds of things Guitar Hero will be coming back in the near future.
