It has been sadly confirmed that London indie games retailer Game Focus has closed its doors.

Reductions in floor space beginning with the closing of the basement and then a time of heavy discounting still could not keep the business running.

“After almost 10 years of business, Game Focus has had to close,” a hand written notice on the shop front reads.

“We would like to thank all of our loyal customers over the years for their support and wish you all well. So on behalf of Chi and rest of the crew (past and present) we bid you farewell.

“As one of the last indie retro and import stores in London, we held on and fought as long as we could. It is a sad day.

“Bye, Scottish guy”

The shop had dedicated sections for imports, retro and collectible games. It held the hearts of many true gamers. Game Focus also broke boundaries, if you were a regular new releases could be chatted about months in advance and new releases received before any mainstream store. Many games journalists also made money from their promotional material too.

Raven Games in Beckenham is now one of few retro games shops on the high street. Game Focus was one of a dying breed.
