Nintendo, last week, unsurprisingly revealed a New Super Mario Bros. 2. They also claimed it would be not just a retail purchase but an e-shop purchase.

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo’s Global President, clarified their decision. The game will be available from both the traditional retail outlets such as GAME but will also be a digital download too.

The digital format can be stored on an SD card and the boxed version will be just that. Retailers can also sell the game in a digital format too, it will be available through a 16-digit downloadable code that can be used on the eShop, in a system not unlike a gift card.

Iwata claimed that ”downloaded software will not be able to be shared between systems.” Retailers will be able to set the price of the title, aswell as any additional digital add ons but as ever, Nintendo have claimed they will strive to keep the price of each version relatively the same.
