Left 4 Dead has ironically been left for dead for a few years now. That’s not to say developers Turtle Rock have been taking time off. Oh no. They have announced Back 4 Blood, a first person co-operative zombie shooter. We have two videos provided by the publisher Warner Bros. Games. The first is the announcement trailer, with the second being all about the gameplay. Both show off ample amounts of blood, guts and humour.

Here is the announcement trailer featuring a wise-cracking team surrounded by all sorts of nasties. It showcases the 4 player action you can be experiencing. Back 4 Blood can be played online with a squad of four players or solo with up to three AI teammates. There is also an online PvP multiplayer for two teams of four.

The story throws players into a world infested with zombies after a catastrophic outbreak. Most of humanity has either been killed or infected. A group of apocalypse veterans called the Cleaners have taken on the challenge of reclaiming the world from the hoards of undead. Here’s the PR for the game

“Turtle Rock Studios, the talented team that put the co-op zombie genre on the map, is the perfect partner for us with Back 4 Blood as we pursue this important genre of gaming,” said David Haddad, President, Warner Bros. Games. “This passionate development team is giving fans a new franchise that pushes this category of shooters forward with fun, frenetic combat.”

“Our fans have been waiting a long time for us to return to our roots and it’s amazing to finally show the world what we’ve been working on,” said Chris Ashton, Co-founder and Design Director, Turtle Rock Studios. “We are making this game with our community in mind and are firing on all cylinders to give players a compelling zombie experience that is unlike any other”

The next video is a look at the first person game in action. The trailer might be brief but Turtle Rock have also said a deep-dive of the game will take place on 17th December at 6pm GMT across Twitch, Facebook and Twitter. If that wasn’t enough, a Beta will launch on PC from the 18th-21st December for players to experience and feedback on the game.

Back 4 Blood will launch on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PS4 and PC on 22nd June 2021.
