Visual novels are growing in popularity outside of Japan. These games usually forgo movement and explorations in favour of text heavy interactivity with beautifully crafted backgrounds. Hence the name, visual novel. Here we have BUSTAFELLOWS, a popular game in Japan, making it’s way West for the first time for the Nintendo Switch and Steam. It’s due out at some point in 2021.

In BUSTAFELLOWS, you play as Teuta, a police woman who becomes “embroiled in a thrilling plot about love and murder”. Set in a fictional US city of New- Seig, our heroine has to not only investigate 5 shady men but there is also the option to romance them.

The visual novel introduces a time sensitive mechanic that reacts to player’s decisions in game, such as siding with certain characters or failing to solve one of the many puzzles on offer. With time being a factor, this will unlock additional side stories and can even effect the outcome of the game and will lead you to one of the many endings.

PQube has entered into an agreement with  NIPPON CULTURAL BROADCASTING EXTEND INC to bring the BUSTAFELLOWS to western audiences in 2021. It is currently scheduled for release on both Nintendo Switch and Steam.
