Activision has announced that they will be bringing Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time to the current generation of consoles on 12th March with native 4K/60FPS upgrades for the PlayStation 5 & Xbox Series X versions. The Series S will have 60FPS but will upscale to 4K. A Nintendo Switch version will also be made available on the same date.

Along with the new visual and performance upgrades you can expect faster loading times and 3D audio to keep you immersed during your play sessions.

If you’re after the PlayStation 5 version, you’ll also have additional features such as full activity cards so you can keep track of your progress. However, the most exciting feature of the game is the use of the adaptive triggers in the controller which will be used in various ways such as Neo Cortex struggling shooting DNA changer and the feedback of Tawna’s Hookshot.

Players with either a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One version of the game will get this next generation upgrade for no cost when you pop the disc/download the game onto your new console. This is great if you’re on the look out for a preowned copy of the game.

The Nintendo Switch version will also be available and because it isn’t capable of 4k output, will be sold at a lower price. Usually Switch games tend to release at a higher cost so this is a rare win for the handheld hybrid.

The release of Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time for the current generation comes as Activision start a year long celebration for the game’s 25th anniversary so expect more Crash news in the not too distant future. In the meantime, Crash 4 will be out on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC on 12th March.
