Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition gets a PS5 and Xbox Series X|S Upgrade
THQ Nordic confirms that Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition will become that little bit more definitive when it releases on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles in October. The original Darksiders 2 was released for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2012, before receiving a next-gen upgrade in 2015, and is widely considered one of the best entries in the action-adventure franchise.
This upgraded edition of Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition brings 4K resolution, ray tracing, and enhanced lighting and shadows to the PS5 and Xbox Series consoles. The update will also make use of this generation’s SSD and reduce those pesky loading times. PS5 players will have the added bonus of haptic feedback via the DualSense controller and of course, the game still contains all of the main story and additional DLC. The game is expected to be released on 15th October with preorders now live.
Darksiders 2 puts players into the shoes of Death, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Death sets out on a quest to discover why his brother War is imprisoned by the Charred Council but finds himself in a huge open world known as the Forge Lands, a place overrun by Corruption. The action-adventure game tasks players with restoring the Forge Lands to their former glory while finding out what happened with his brother.
Gamers who haven’t yet jumped into the world of Darksiders will find that Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition will be available for £24.99 / $29.99 / €29.99, although THQ is running a 50% off offer until 14 October. Those who already have the game on PS4 and Xbox One can upgrade at no extra cost.
It’s great to see the Darksiders franchise come back to life. Last month THQ Nordic teased the next game in the series, so Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition will be a nice little refresher of the story so far. Fingers crossed that Darksiders Warmastered Edition and Darksiders 3 receive the same treatment too.
Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition is available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S from 15 October.
