Do Your Part With Starship Troopers: Extermination Hives of Valaka: Update 0.5.0
The Early Access release of Starship Troopers: Extermination is adding a new combat mode, new maps and weaponry as part of the 0.5.0 update. The update to the first person shooter is based off player feedback and may be adjusted in the future as it heads to a full release.
Starship Troopers: Extermination is being developed by Offworld Industries and has the backing of the film’s studios- Sony Pictures. Set thirty years after the original 1997 film, players take part in this a co-op FPS where humanity is on a mission to reclaim the planets taken by the Bugs. The game entered early access in May 2023 and has accumulated over 20,000 very positive reviews so far.
The Hives of Valaka update brings the fight underground with Hive Hunt: a new combat mode focused on quick assaults with shorter matches. These are limited to 4 players and set across 3 new maps within cave networks of Valaka. Players need to work together and bring the utilisation of each class as they take on the new fast-paced missions.
To help with this, new weapons have been introduced against the battle against the Bugs and each class now has its own specialty shotgun for extra violence. Every class also has new loadout items, and the Offworld Industries team has increased Level Caps to help keep combat smooth and balanced. Keeping track of progression has also been simplified, as XP will now be displayed on screen.
The team behind Starship Troopers: Extermination are hellbent on giving the B-movie franchise, the best video game adaptation they can. With this new update, players are one step closer to that realisation. The action is already zippy and fast paced, but these new maps and the faster mission times will certainly enhance the experience for gamers.
Starship Troopers: Extermination is available on Steam now for £24.99. The price is set to increase when the game officially launches but there is no firm date on this as of yet.
