Well it has been approximatley an hour and a half since the Nintendo Europe presentation and we are already starting to get the first prices for the Wii U console and its games. It will not be until closer to the release when prices will be set in stone so take them with a pinch of salt for now, but it looks promising.

UPDATE: AMAZON WEIGHS IN

Website simplygames.com have listed the White Budget bundle at a cost of £209.99 and the Premium Black console including Nintendo Land at £249.99. The direct price of the Japanese versions, give or take a few pounds or so. If retailers run with this price, it would be a very attractive price to getting new gamers onboard as the 6 year old PlayStation 3 is only slightly cheaper.

New Super Mario Bros U and Pikmin 3 are listed at a price of £39.99. In comparison, Amazon have listed Tank! Tank! Tank! with a price of £29.99, which seems to confirm that Nintendo will be keeping the Wii pricing structure of charging more for lengthy titles and less for shorter or budget games. Again, the prices are kept with current generation costs – a relief to gamers that won’t see prices of games increasing with a new console.

It will be interesting to see what the bigger retailers (Amazon, Game, Tesco etc) do with the Wii U price situation.

Update: Amazon have now posted their prices for the 8GB White Bundle £249.99, and the 32GB Black Premium bundle for £284.99.
