Wired Productions have announced that their BAFTA nominated aerial extravaganza- The Falconeer: Warrior Edition is seeing a release on PlayStation 5, PS4 & Nintendo Switch on 5th August. This package will include all previous DLC from the Steam and Xbox releases as well as the up and coming expansion Edge of the World. It is a game that will certainly fill the Panzer Dragoon / Star Fox shaped hole in your gaming library.

Above is the trailer for the PlayStation 5 version, which we’ve been promised a 60FPS/4K experience. So expect a silky smooth experience and great feedback from the DualSense controller. The PS4 version, while not hitting native 4K will be optimised for the frame rate so will again run at 60FPS.

For those yet to experience The Falconeer, this is a 3rd person game that puts you in control of an airborne warrior known as a Falconeer. Your bird is equipped with ranged weapons and brings classic dog fighting mechanics in an open world full on enemies ranging from large lumbering airships, flying beetles, manta rays, dragon-like weavers, and other Falconeers.

It was becoming tradition with Switch ports, that announcement of a game would focus on the higher powered consoles. Wired Productions, have pleasantly bucked this trend and have released a separate trailer for the Switch version – we’ve embedded this below. Much like the PS4 version, The Falconeer: Warrior Edition will include all content so far and focus on the frame rate experience, although there is a graphical trade off. Still, we’re impressed the game has been condensed into effectively a handheld console.

For physical lovers, The Falconeer: Warrior Edition will be available to buy for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 at a cost of £24.99. The Nintendo Switch version is priced at £29.99, but the e-Shop version is £24.99. That pesky cartidge ‘tax’ rears it’s head once again.

We must note that this is down from the Series X version which topped out at 4K/120FPS when the next gen patch was unleashed. We’ve reached out to Wired Productions asking if this is being considered for PS5, however it’s still nice to see The Falconeer: Warrior Edition release across multiple platforms.

The Falconeer: Warrior Edition will launch on 5th August on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch & PS4. Existing Xbox and Steam players can also purchase the Edge of the World expansion on the same date.
