Halo Infinite Update – Coming “Fall” 2021

In a lengthy blog post detailing all of the amendments 343 industries have made since Halo Infinite gameplay was shown (and subsequently slated by the internet), the team have announced they are targeting a Fall 2021 release for Halo Infinite. Looking at the new images, it looks like everyone involved is working hard to satisfy fans of the series.

The team at 343 industries seem to have taken fan feedback on board and the screens of Halo Infinite that have been released do look far better than what we’ve previously seen.

To assure fans that development is going well, Microsoft have convinced ex-Bungie and Halo developer Joseph Staten to head up the project going forward. For the last four months he seems to be doing a fine job in recreating the Bungie-era Halo.

In the post he says the reason he’s been brought back is to push the team:

I joined 343i right as the team was wrestling with feedback from the July campaign demo. This discussion boiled down to one fundamental truth: we needed more time to do things right. That included pushing hard in the Fall, giving the team time to recharge over the Holidays, and then coming back in January to finish the game at a healthy pace.

Because Halo Infinite in the Fall of 2021… is just the beginning of the adventure.

It seems that 343 and Microsoft want to get Halo Infinite right, as well as not forcing an unreasonable development deadline on the team. Hopefully Halo will be worth the wait.

Halo Infinite will launch (fingers crossed) between August-November in 2021 on Xbox Series X|S & PC. A Xbox One version is still planned to launch alongside this, but we’re not sure if it has been cancelled in order to prioritise the new hardware. No systems were mentioned in the blog post.
