Kickstarter for Metal Tales: Overkill Goes Live Today
While 100% of us love video games, it’s a fact that 66.6% of the team loves heavy metal. You can then imagine more than half of the team trying to start a pit when they learned that a Kickstarter to bring Metal Tales: Overkill to PC & Consoles launches today.

Metal Tales: Overkill is developed by ZeroUno games and promises to be one heck of a 3D twin stick shooter style game. The game has a launch date pencilled in for 22nd April 2021 on Steam while the Kickstarter is for the Switch, Xbox family, PlayStation 4 & PlayStation 5 versions. The next gen versions are promised to be enhanced versions, not just played through backwards compatibility.
From the trailer above you can see this is a bullet-hell style shooter with an amazing soundtrack from bonified metal bands from around the world. The story of the game sees the god Kuk possessing all the guitar gods, to control the metalheads in an effort to wipe out all metal bands. Only one man can stop him.
It sounds absolutely bonkers and the feature list goes into more detail:
- 50+ items: guitars, strings, pedals, amps, books and summons
- 15 different enemies
- 8 Guitar Bosses
- 4 playable characters: Are you more Metallica, Iron Maiden or Black Sabbath? Choose your brothers!
- 3 environments: Enjoy exploring different environments like Metal Den, Metal Festival and Hell
- 6 procedurally generated levels: With randomly generated levels, no two games will ever be the same
- Local CO-OP
- Mission system to unlock abilities and upgrade stats between runs
- Original soundtrack and international metal bands’ songs from Eclipse Records

We know there’s a certain risk to Kickstarter games, however with the title having locked in a release date for Steam, it seems that the extra funding is to port the game to the various platforms. Our only concern is that with 6 procedurally generated levels, it would appear that the game could be on the short side.
Metal Tales: Overkill will be coming to PC on 22nd April and hopefully to consoles at some point in 2021. Here’s the link to the Kickstarter.
