SNK have confirmed that King Of Fighters XIII Global Match – the updated version of the popular KOF XIII will get a beta test ahead of the game’s release later in the month. While the game is set to release on both Switch and PlayStation 4, the week long test will only available on PS4 and PS5 (via backwards compatibility).

The King Of Fighters XIII Global Match beta is available to download in the PlayStation store and will run from 3am (BST) Monday 5th June to 3am Sunday 11th June and is designed to stress test the servers to make sure the brawler is up to snuff for the full release.

Much like how Capcom regularly updates and balances Street Fighter with various tweaks and changes, SNK are taking a similar approach with KOF XIII GM. The updated title optimises the classic edition by adding rollback netcode, lobbies, and spectator features to the fighter. This will allow players to get an enhanched experience while looking for their next fight.

The open beta test is aimed at improving the quality of the game’s online features and will be accessible to everyone on PlayStation, even those without a PlayStation Plus subscription. This will be an only-only test so there’s no story mode available, but any character customisations or save data can be transferred over to the full game when it releases in the next few months.

King Of Fighters XIII Global Match is set for a Summer 2023 release on Switch and PS4.
