Kingdom Heats Drop Distance & Theatrhythm Final Fantasy both dated

In a double whammy from Square Enix today, they have announced both release dates for Theatrhythm Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts Drop Distance for the Nintendo 3DS. The games will release on 3rd July and 31st July respectively. For Kingdom Heats this is a month later than originally planned, as the game is launching this month in Japan.

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy showcases the best music from the last 25 years of the series and will incorporate four of the best characters in the series. Using the touchscreen, players have to match the rhythm of the song using taps and sweeps from the stylus.

Where as Kingdom Hearts Drop Distance reunites Sora with the Disney characters from the previous instalments last seen on the PlayStation 2 and the PSP in Square Enix’s typical RPG style. Both games will launch and what is typically a quiet period for gamers as developers concentrate on crafting games ready for the Christmas launch. It will be interesting to see whether launching games in this quiet period will boost sales or not.
