The return of Mario Golf in the form of Mario Golf Super Rush certainly was a welcome surprise during last night’s Nintendo Direct. As Mario and friends hit the course for a fun spin on the golfing genre. Oh, and it’s coming out on the 25th June 2021.

It’s been a while since Mario Golf graced a home console. In fact it was way back in 2004 when Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour took to the fairway. For Mario Golf: Super Rush, Nintendo are combining the series’ party set up and bringing back something long requested – a career mode!

Like its Tennis counterpart, Mario Golf: Super Rush feature your typical golf game if you just want a quick round in the Mushroom Kingdom as well as local and online multiplayer. However, a new mode, speed golf , sees up to four players teeing off at the same time. They have to rush around the course and putt their ball fastest.

If that wasn’t enough, Nintendo are bringing back your Mii in the story mode. You train your Mii to take part in golf competitions and collect experience points in order to improve your stats. It’s just like the Game Boy games of old! We’re very excited to get stuck into this as we felt it was sorely missing from Mario Tennis Aces.

All of the typical characters such as Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Toad, Wario, Waluigi & Bowser return. With Nintendo going all out with the line up, we’re hoping for some more surprises (Dry Bones). Motion controls will be utilised by swinging Joy-Con in the usual fashion but button controls are also available.

Mario Golf: Super Rush will be available on the Nintendo Switch from 25th June.
