So after the joys and tribulations of EuroGamer’s Expo at Earl’s Court, the weekend just gone, it’s time for the twice a year, Comic-Con to do their thing. MCM Comic Con is primarily an Expo for anime and sci-fi fans to get together and Cosplay some of the most extreme characters. When VGN attended last year, we were met with Pikachu and Tamaki Suoh to Nyan Cat and R2D2. It’s an event for people who like a host of fantasy and comic things, rather than just videogames.

The videogame section is a lot smaller than EuroGamer and unlike EuroGamer, where there was a relatively small shopping area, the majority of the MCM Expo, at the eXcel Centre in London is full of shops. From places selling anime toys and DVDs, through to high end Japanese style artwork and exclusive comic books.

This year Matt Smith, from Doctor Who will be opening the weekend and will host a panel with Caroline SKinner, Jeffrey Demunn and Andrew Rotherburg from The Walking Dead will make an appearance, Ali Hills who is Lightning in Final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2, Courtenay Taylor who’s Jack/Subject Zero in Mass Effect 2 and Ada Wong in Resident Evil 6 and Liam O’Brien who’s roles include Jushiro Ukitake in Bleach, Gaara in Naturo, War in Darksiders and Vincent Law in Ergo Proxy.

In terms of videogames, the Wii U will make an appearance with a variety of games, most likely Pikmin and Nintendo Land, but this is unconfirmed. Also Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation, Far Cry 3, ZombiU (which had 3 hour waiting times in EuroGamer!), Lost Planet 3, Devil May Cry DMC, a Tekken Tag Tournament 2 contest, Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, Hitman: Absolution and the new reboot of Tomb Raider, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, Borderlands 2, South Park: The Stick of Truth and Gamespot UK will be back shouting at people across the place.

So it’s a whole mish-mash of general entertainment, but as a word of warning, videogames are only a small part of a much wider event.
