Along with Sony’s PlayStation Plus announcement today, the Japanese giant has also confirmed that PSP & PS One games will be making more of a comeback than we initially thought.

Hidden within the depths of the PlayStation Plus announcement is one line that will certainly please people:

Players who have previously purchased the digital version of select games from the original PlayStation and PSP generation will not have to make a separate purchase or sign up to PlayStation Plus to play these titles on PS4 or PS5. When these titles are released for PS4 and PS5, players can head to PlayStation Store and download a version for the consoles at no extra cost if they already own the digital version of the title. Some of the titles will also be available for individual purchase.

This means if you’ve previously purchased PSP games on the now defunct store, or PS One Classics on PS3, PSP, or Vita Stores, they will soon be available on the newer consoles. This will no doubt please fans who may have moved on from the PS3 days or no longer have their consoles.

Hopefully Sony clarifies which titles we’ll be able to redownload in the coming weeks but this is a big benefit to all PlayStation players, not just those who are subscribed to PS Plus as it gives back some of the games we’ve already accumulated since 2006 when the PS3 launched.
