UPDATE: 07 OCTOBER 2025: PowerA has confirmed their Switch 2 Advantage Wireless Controller does not contain NFC functionality for amiibo and will not wake the console from sleep mode.

Third-party peripheral maker PowerA have released three new wireless controllers for the Switch 2. Officially licensed by Nintendo, the PowerA Switch 2 Advantage Wireless Controller features a 30-hour battery life as well as Hall Effect thumbsticks.

These new Switch 2 wireless controllers are largely comparable to Nintendo’s own Pro offering, although there are some notable differences. Each pad includes two mappable buttons on the back, motion controls and the new C button to launch GameChat. The controllers don’t, however, appear to have NFC functionality, nor is it clear if it can wake the console up. We’ve reached out to PowerA to confirm if their Pro Controllers include these functions and will update if they do.

Coming in three flavours: Black, Mario, and Pokémon and will work with both the new Switch 2 and any of the Switch 1 models. The Mario version is a red control pad featuring the big hitters from the Mushroom Kingdom as well as some of the iconic power-ups. The Pokémon controller features a battle between Mega Evolved versions of Lucario and Mewtwo, nicely tying into Pokémon Legends Z-A, which is out on 16th October.

The RRP for each controller is £54.99 / $59.99, a whole £20 cheaper than Nintendo’s first-party controller. The price point will certainly appeal to those looking for a quality alternative to Nintendo’s own offerings. The Hall Effect sticks are an attractive bonus as they are said to help prevent stick drift. Each box comes with the controller itself and a 10-foot USB-C charge cable. The PowerA Switch 2 Advantage Wireless controller will be available from Amazon, along with other brick-and-mortar shops from 2nd December 2025.
