The remake of Silent Hill 2, developed by Bloober Team, has passed 2 million copies sold across PS5 and Steam. After years of speculation, the remake of the PlayStation 2 original, released in October 2024 to critical acclaim.

The news of Silent Hill 2‘s latest milestone is impressive, given that it shifted one million copies in the first four days of being on sale.

To put it into context, the original Silent Hill 2 from 2001 managed one million sales despite being available across multiple platforms, including the behemoth PS2.

While we’re sure Konami will be happy about these numbers, it should show that there is an appetite for the survival horror franchise. Prior to Silent Hill 2‘s return, there have been numerous attempts at reviving the franchise, including the high profile P.T from Hideo Kojima, which was abandoned after he left Konami in 2015.

Along with backing Bloober Team in remaking Silent Hill 2, there are new games on the horizon. There is the spinoff Silent Hill Townfall in development at No Code, and Konami’s own in-house team are busy working on the next installment, Silent Hill F.

We’ll see if this momentum brings about a shift in Konami’s position with the franchise, but for now at least, horror fans can enjoy Silent Hill‘s return.
