Sony are back with another presentation showcasing up and coming games for the PlayStation 5. Announced during the 9th September Showcase we saw release dates given to Gran Turismo 7, Alan Wake Remastered and Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, as well as a full reveal of the next God of War & a couple of project Insomniac Games are working on. Come and have a look at the action as it happened.

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic Remake

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic Remake is coming to PlayStation 5. Lucasfilm Games and Aspyr are working together to bring what’s considered one of the best Star Wars video games to the latest generation of consoles. Unlike their previous work with Star Wars: Republic Commando, this will be a remake from the ground up. The teams are aware of the craving for the game and will aim to keep the core gameplay, and story in tact – with the usual quality of life updates of course. Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic Remake is a little way off but we’re going to be keeping our eyes glued to any and all updates.

Project EVE

A new 3D brawler in the same vein as Devil May Cry and Bayonetta is coming to PS5 from Shift Up Studios. It looks deliciously gory as Eve takes on a mysterious alien force that has taken over Earth. As it is currently known as ‘Project’ and there’s no release date we don’t know when it’ll be coming but we’re following this one very closely.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands

We finally have a glimpse of the Borderlands spin off, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands from 2K Games. We’re thrown into a world of fantasy, magic and of course guns, lots of guns as players partake in Tiny Tina’s table top RPG. Before the questing, looting and shooting begins, you pick up a character sheet and design your own player. Then it’s a case of following the mayhem until Tina has had enough. It’s coming to PS5, PS4, PC & Xbox consoles on 25th March.

Forspoken

Next up we have Forspoken, a PS5 exclusive from Square Enix. In our first proper look at the gameplay of this 3D brawler sees the main character traversing through a strange land and utilising mystical powers to pull off some crazy stunts. We suspect we’ll learn more about Forspoken shortly as it has a rough release date of Spring 2022.

Rainbow Six Extraction

Another look at a game not based on Tom Clancy’s book series. This adds an alien infestation element to similar gameplay to Siege and is looking to be in a better shape compared to its initial reveal earlier in the year. Coming to PS5 and other consoles in January 2022.

Alan Wake Remastered

Announced a few days ago, we get our first look at Alan Wake Remastered. Journey into the mind bending world of horror writer, Alan Wake, as he pieces together a missing week and tries to find his wife. Coming 5th October.

GTA V & GTA Online

Grand Theft Auto Five is one of the biggest selling video games ever released. And along with GTA Online, they are launching on their third generation of hardware in 2022. The games will make use of the PS5 hardware with faster, near non-existent loading times as well as the usual updated graphical qualities.

Coming to the PS5 in March 2022.

Ghostwire Tokyo

Ghostwire Tokyo has also been quite on the update front since it was first revealed in the PS5 showcase last year. It looks as if is come on leaps and bounds since we last saw the game. As the name states, the spooky first person action game is set in the city of Tokyo that has been savaged by supernatural forces. Humans are disappearing into thin air and it’s up to us to find out why. No firm release date was announced but expect it in ‘Spring 2022’.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy

A new trailer showing off the humour of the rag-tag galaxy guardians. Also features Cosmo the dog, so we’re all in. Comes out 26th October.

Vampire The Masquerade Bloodhunt

Set for release on Steam in a couple of days, the free to play Battle Royale set in the Vampire The Masquerade universe is coming to PlayStation 5 before the end of the year. Bloodhunt has you either hunting down vampires or playing as them in this bloody, neck snapping third person shooter. We’re intrigued to see how this changes the genre of battle royale games.

Deathloop

Another look at Bethesda’s likely last PS5 game. If you’ve managed to miss this one, you play as an assassin tasked with taking out 8 leaders on an island within 24 hours. You’re hunted by another hitman and if you die, the loop starts again. It’s coming out in a couple of weeks on 24th September as is a PlayStation timed-exclusive.

Kid A Mnesia

Kid A Mnesia is an digital/analogue universe created by using original artwork and recordings from Radiohead to commemorate 21 years of the band’s classic albums Kid A and Amnesiac. Created in conjunction with Epic Games, fans can expect this ‘exhibition’ to release in November 2021.

Tchia

This is one beautiful Indie game we’ve been keeping an eye on. Tchia is a a child who can turn into animals to explore a beautiful tropical island, or you could just sit and learn to play the Ukulele and is inspired by New Caledonia. It’ll be coming to PlayStation 5 & PS4 next year.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End & Uncharted Lost Legacy Remastered

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted Lost Legacy are getting a remaster for PlayStation 5 & PC under the banner of Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection. The end to Nathan Drake’s story originally released in 2016 and is getting a new lease of life.

Expect Naughty Dog to make use of the PS5 hardware, including updated visuals and faster frame rates. We don’t yet have a release date, but will see it in ‘early 2022’. Due to Sony’s recent stance on previous gen upgrades, and the fact this is a bundle of two games we suspect there will be no free upgrades to existing owners.

Marvel’s Wolverine

Insomniac are back with another Marvel game. This time they are taking on X-Men with Marvel’s Wolverine. This looks to be very early in development as we only have the above cinematic trailer to go off. But from the first look, it looks like Insomniac have taken inspiration from the first X-Men film where Logan is trying to unwind after a long day before being bothered by some mutant-hating hick.

Could we expect an appearance from Hugh Jackman? Probably not, bub. Expect very little information for a while as Sony haven’t even given us a sniff at a release date.

Gran Turismo 7

Gran Turismo games have always looked pretty for their time but GT7 looks to take the full power of the PS5 and create something truley remarkable. Customise cars with your own decals and a photo mode to create images that look as close to real life as possible. The team at Polyphony Digital look to be knocking this one off the race track and is scheduled for a release on 4th March 2022 on both PS4 & PS5.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Insomniac are a busy bunch as it was revealed that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is also coming to PS5. This time Peter Parker and Miles Morales will team up to take on one of Spider-Man’s deadliest enemies; Venom.

The game will be exclusive to the PlayStation 5, and is currently aiming for a 2023 release window with much of the same team who worked on the original and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales returning to work on the follow-up.

God of War Ragnarok

We get our first look at the follow up to the God Of War reboot. Kratos and his Boy return as they team up to find out who his son is. Along with this, they take on Odin and the Gods of Asgard in a bid to stop Ragnarok, because why not. The trailer has Kratos facing off against all manner of beasts including minotaurs and of course, the God of Thunder, Thor.

God of War Ragnarok will bring to a close the Norse chapter for Kratos and is currently pencilled in for a 2022 release across PS5 and PS4. Although, we’re not sure how it’ll fare on the base PS4, even the 2018 version turned our PS4 into a jet fan.
