Free Lives, the development team behind the excellent 2D shooter, Broforce, have announced their next game, Stick it to the Stickman, a look at what happens when an employee joins the bottom of the corporate ladder and tries to violently work their way to the top, treading on as many people as possible to get there.

Coming in 2023 to PC (other platforms not yet confirmed), Stick it to the Stickman is described as a rougelike brawler that utilises everything in the office so that you can batter your coworkers and middle management in order to learn “business techniques” on your way to becoming CEO of the worst company in America.

Gameplay looks simple enough – using a range of items commonly found in American offices such as staplers, katanas and Gatling guns, players control the blue stick figure to make it all the way to the top of the company by brutally murdering their stickfigured work colleagues.

To keep the game from becoming stale, players don’t just move up in the world of business, instead hostile takeovers of other businesses can lead players to gain new gameplay mechanics, new enemies, new bosses, new weapons which contribute a conglomerate that takes over this dystopian world.

With Free Lives previous work on Broforce, we can already tell that Stickman will be full of satirical jabs at corporate greed and capitalist ideals, all wrapped up with slick and smooth gameplay. For those in the States, heading to PAX East, you’ll be able to get your hands on an early demo of the game. Everyone else will have to wait until next year.

Stick it to the Stickman will release in 2023 on PC. Other platforms may follow suit.
