The dust may have only just settled on Street Fighter V‘s epic six year run, but that hasn’t stopped Capcom from quickly moving on from the last generation fighter and focusing on the next instalment. Street Fighter 6 has formally been announced in the form of a short teaser trailer.

In the 30 second trailer we see series stalwart Ryu facing off against the latest newcomer, and last entry into SFV’s roster, Luke. Both fighters seem to have had a glow up as Capcom are seemingly ditching the cartoon aesthetic players have been enjoying for the last thirty-five years, settling on a more realistic appearance.

Some cartoon effects that were introduced in Street Fighter IV remain and can be seen as both Luke and Ryu power up.

How the game plays, who’s in the roster and, most importantly, which platforms we’ll be playing the brawler on, have yet to be announced, but Capcom have said they’ll provide a full reveal in the summertime.

With the new visuals, the re-branding away from roman numerals, and Ryu’s thick beard, we’re very excited to see this new direction, the only thing we’re not sold on is that logo. But will reserve full judgement until we know more.
