As February draws to it’s conclusion, it’s time to take a look at the games you can be playing in March as part of either Microsoft’s Games With Gold or Sony’s PlayStation Plus line ups.

Starting with the team in green, you can look forward too:

  • Warface Breakout (1st March – 31st March)
  • VALA – Vicious Attack Llama Apocalypse (16th March – 15th April)
  • Metal Slug 3 (1st March – 15th March)
  • Port Royale 3 (16th March – 31st March)

Warface Breakout originally launched for the Xbox One in May 2020. This is a tactical online first person shooter. Players compete in teams where they have to either plant and detonate a bomb, or stop it from going off. The game offers fast paced action with a focus on strategy. Running around shooting everything won’t pay off for you. This gives the game a real depth.

One of the more interesting titles in the Games With Gold March line up is VALA – Vicious Attack Llama Apocalypse. You run and gun in an isometric landscape, where you have to stop hoards of llamas from mauling you to death.

This month’s two games from the Xbox’s archives come from the 360 era. Metal Slug 3 is a 2D run and gun platformer from 2008. The evil General Morden has teamed up with pesky aliens to stage a coup against the world’s governments. It’s up to you to stop them. Rounding off the line up is Port Royale 3 an island simulator game that allows you to build a successful island in the 17th century Caribbean. However you have the option of jacking in the trade and becoming a pirate, if that’s the life for you.

The total gamer score for the four games is 3200. Not too shabby. As always, the games can be added through your Xbox One or Series X|S, or Microsoft’s webstore.

For Sony’s PlayStation Plus Line up you can look forward too:

  • Final Fantasy VII Remake (PS4 Edition)
  • Farpoint (PS VR)
  • Remnant From The Ashes (PS4)
  • Maquette (PS5)

Final Fantasy VII Remake is the standout headliner for the month. The remake of the first part of Cloud’s story has been a long time coming will be available for no extra cost. An important note; if you only own the game through PS Plus, you will not be able to make use of the free upgrade to the PS5 version when it launches in June.

It’s not often we see a PlayStation VR game in the line-up but with Sony this week confirming they’re not done with virtual reality, it makes sense. Farpoint is a first person shooter / free roaming title that sees you fighting for survival on an alien world. It makes use of the VR Aim controller but you can use your standard DualShock 4 if you don’t have one.

Next up we have 2019’s Remnant From The Ashes. The game takes inspiration from the Dark Souls series but replaces sword play with guns in a randomly generated world. It faired well against reviewers but seems to be one of those games that slipped by.

Rounding out the month, we have Maquette for the PS5. A new game that is a first person puzzle game that relies on perspective in order to solve puzzles. Only the PS5 version is included in the line up. While we’re on the subject, if you have yet to add Destruction All Stars to your library, it remains live until April so remember to grab that too!

These titles go live on Tuesday 2nd March 2021. If you don’t yet have a PS5, Maquette & Destruction All Stars can still be added. Just use either the PlayStation App or visit the PlayStation Store on your browser.

Be sure to add this month’s games to your respective game libraries so you don’t miss out on last month’s line up.
