The Music Of The Legend Of Zelda Gets A Christmas Makeover
Do you love music from the Legend of Zelda but wish it had a more festive spin? Do you love Christmas music but wish it was more Legendary? Well. The team at the Materia Collective have you covered with their new album “A Merry Hyrule Christmas“. It sounds mental, but it absolutely works.

The album of eight tracks takes classic music from The Legend of Zelda series and mixes in classic Christmas hymns such as the Twelve Days of Christmas and God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, the latter of which has been brilliantly renamed to Din Rest Ye Merry Deku Scrubs. Don’t expect any Wham! or Chris Rea mashups.
Here’s the track list in full:
- Kakariko Village
- O Sacred Light
- Clock Town Sleigh Ride
- Silent Knight
- Carol of the Goddess
- Dragon Roost Hymn
- Din Rest Ye Merry Deku Scrubs
- The Twelve Days of Christmas
Here’s the official PR:
A Merry Hyrule Christmas is the first album to combine music from The Legend of Zelda franchise with classic holiday tunes of various genres,” comments arranger and producer Eric Buchholz. “We have Zelda music with a Christmas twist, as well as Christmas music with a Zelda twist!. My goal was to create an album of videogame music that could blend in seamlessly with classic holiday tunes. I love the idea of folks being able to ‘trick’ their parents, grandparents, and family into listening to videogame music—without them realizing it!
If you’ve not heard of the Materia Collective, they work with talented composers to produce some amazing video game remixes, as well as working directly with video game companies to create official video game soundtracks. A Merry Hyrule Christmas clocks in at 31 minutes and is a fantastic listen to get you into the Christmas spirit!
