UK Video Game Charts Week Ending 12/12/2020. Cyberpunk 2077 Does Quite Well

Mondays. Most people hate them, but we don’t! It gives us a chance to look at the best selling console physical games in the UK. Usually in December, there tends to be little movement as parents buy the popular Call of Duty/FIFA games. This week, Cyberpunk 2077 comes to disrupt the charts. Can you tell where it ended up?

For those who guessed “Number One”, have a biscuit. Cyberpunk is the UK’s second biggest physical launch of 2020, shunting The Last of Us Part II to third. The biggest launch of 2020 is FIFA 21. The game sold best on PS4 (60%), with 35% Xbox One & 5% of boxed copies on PC..

The second best launch in the UK doesn’t mean that Cyberpunk 2077 is a failure. The UK charts don’t track digital sales. We already know from CD Projekt Red that the game had around 8 million pre-orders for the PC version. This number makes the game the best selling PC launch ever, so we reckon the team will be happy with these numbers.

Away from Night City, the rest of the top 20 remains pretty stagnant. Last week’s number one – FIFA 21 has dropped to 5th, with positions 2, 3 & 4 remaining as is.
