Sony Japan have today announced details of it’s UMD Passport system. By downloading an application to a PSP it entitles a user to register the game and re-download it on the PlayStation Vita or PSP Go. A great idea since the Vita will not fit in any PSP UMD devices. The service registers the game to the player’s account and provides a unique code which means multiple downloads of games isn’t possible.

The Japanese lists so far consists of 200+ games each costing between ¥500 and ¥1500. This equates to approximately £4-£13 in Sterling. It is unclear if this unique code will mean that all the save data in the games will transfer across as well but we’ll know more once we know which titles will make it from Japan to Europe.
