Ys IX: Monstrum Nox from NIS gets a new story trailer ahead of the game’s PlayStation 4 release on 5th February in Europe. It is also coming to Steam and Nintendo Switch next summer.

For a video titled Story Trailer, it doesn’t go into too much detail about the game. That’s good for those of us who like going in cold, but it won’t win over any new fans as next to no gameplay is shown.

However, we wouldn’t get discouraged just yet. The Ys series has been going for over 30 years and is only just getting the mainstream success it deserves.

Ys IX Monstrum Nox follows the continuing adventures of series mainstay Adol Christin as he attempts to uncover mysteries of Balduq Prison, where he has unwittingly found himself incarcerated.

The game might be number 9 in the series, however as with each entry, it is completely separate to the rest and will appeal to veterans and newcomers to the Ys world. If you’re looking for a decent Action-RPG, then this is one to keep an eye on.

Ys IX Monstrum Nox will release on PlayStation 4 physically and digitally on 5th February in Europe. It comes out on 2nd in the US and 12th in Australasia. A Switch and PC version is pencilled in for a Summer 2021 launch.
