The Last of Us – Special Editions announced
Sony and Naughty Dog’s up and coming survival horror is creeping ever closer and while it is taking an eternity to get to the 7th May release date. However, to keep us going Sony have released information the special editions of the game. Cunningly they are named after the two protagonists – Joel and Ellie, and will be presented in a steelbook and canvas wrap with the face of the character related to the chosen edition.
The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD remake heading for Wii U
Nintendo have confirmed that not only a new Zelda title is underway for the WiiU, gamers will have something older to fill the void. A HD remake of The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker to be exact. The GameCube classic will release for the WiiU in Autumn. This will be more than a simple make over, Wind Waker will make use of the Gamepad in a number of ways – so far confirmed is off TV play.
Capcom finally confirm the console version of Resident Evil Revelations
Capcom have long dodged the subject of a HD version of Resident Evil Revelations on the 3DS despite numerous leaks and even an achievement list appearing online. They have finally caved and announced a console version will be coming in May.
UK Charts 2013 – Week 3
DmC was this week’s biggest release and in a market that is still suffering from the post-Christmas blues and it may come as a surprise to some but it has ended FIFA’s reign to hit straight in at the number 1 spot. It marks the first time since 2009 that Capcom have taken top seed, and that was with Resident Evil 5.
Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon introduces multiplayer
The long awaited and long delayed follow up to the GameCube launch title – Luigi’s Mansion will indeed feature a multiplayer mode of some description when it launches in March for the Nintendo 3DS. The details of what this multiplayer will have remains tight lipped for the moment.
Skyrim getting DLC on PlayStation 3
Bethesda Studios have announced that after a long wait of nearly 18 months since the game was originally released, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will be finally getting downloadable content for the PlayStation 3. Dragonborn, Hearthfire and Dawnguard will be seeing the light of day on Sony’s console after a year of issues regarding compatibility issues with the game.
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate given a release date
Capcom announced that Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will be simultaneously releasing on the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS from 22nd March by either physical or digital copies for either game. A free playable demo on both systems will be available on 21st February.
HMV entering administration
HMV have announced that tomorrow morning, they could well be entering administration putting 4,400 jobs at risk. The retailer – one of the largest specialists for video games, music, dvds and more recently, portable technology has been struggling for quite sometime and has recently raised £40 million to pay debts. It comes after a turbulent time in the videogame market with GAME having to be rescued last year and THQ about to be sold off piece by piece.
UK Charts 2013 – Week 2
Week 2 into 2013 already and there has not been much change in the UK Videogame charts. The top 5 remain exactly where they were last week, we have a new entry into the charts and a couple of re-entries but overall the game market is still well into the post-Christmas slump. See what other movers and shakers have happened this week.
First official images of Pokémon X & Y starters
Last week Nintendo announced the latest generation of pocket monsters in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y for the Nintendo 3DS. We were introduced to the new starters: Chespin the Grass Type, Fennekin the Fire Type and Froakie the water type. There were also two legendary monsters showcased in the trailer, who have also been given titles and statistics. We have the first artwork for these new games, which will be launching worldwide October 2013.
