Developers CryingPsycho has released Krimson, a rhythm based platformer that’s back by a brutal Death Metal soundtrack. The game is releasing across PC and consoles and throws the players into a version of Hell that’s not only alive but pulsating to the beat of the music, trying to stop any progress being made.

Krimson sets gamers with the task of navigating the four worlds that make up Hell, but this isn’t an ordinary platformer. Though the game’s dark and djenty soundtrack, all the obstacles, enemies and even the walls of the stage are alive with rage and are out to cause havoc with the player. Visually, the game leans into what the developers call an LSD trip that descends into madness the further you play. From our perspective Krimson‘s blocky visuals looks like what would happen if you crossed Post Void with Devil May Cry, and that’s no bad thing.

To give you a flavour of what the game is all about, CryingPsycho has this to say about Krimson:

  • Rhythm-Driven Gameplay: The world of Krimson pulses with life—literally. Every jump, every dash, every desperate leap must align with the music. Miss a beat, and you’ll find yourself plummeting into oblivion.
  • Death Lurks Around Every Corner: One wrong move and it’s game over. But fear not—the checkpoints are frequent, and death is swift. Learn from your mistakes, adapt, and keep pushing forward.
  • Electrifying Soundtrack: Prepare to be immersed in a symphony of chaos. The heavy electronic metal soundtrack is more than just background noise—it’s your lifeline. Let the music guide you, and you might just survive.
  • Visually Stunning: The hellish landscapes of Krimson are a sight to behold. From fiery chasms to twisted spires, each level is a work of dark art.

The life essence of Krimson is undoubtably the soundtrack, and by the looks of things this has been handled inhouse by CryingPsycho directly. To give you a flavour of what to expect when you turn up those speakers, you can have a listen to part of the game’s music via CryingPsycho’s music page (opens in a new tab).

Krimson is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One and will set you back between £7-£8 depending on your chosen platform.
