Nintendo UK announced today that the Legend of Zelda Majora’s Mask will be released on Nintendo’s Switch Online Expansion Pack service in February 2022.

Majora’s Mask originally featured on the Nintendo 64, way back in the year 2000 in the UK. It followed on from the now and then legendary Ocarina of Time and although an amazing game, never quite lived up to its predecessor. The material change in gameplay dynamics and the much darker theme make the original and the remake on the Nintendo 3DS a very compelling and enjoyable game.

The biggest concern in February for Majora’s Mask will be if it’s as bad as the Ocarina of Time port for the Switch Online Expansion Pack, which features significant control lag and odd graphical rendering. Majora’s Mask is also known for it’s difficulties with emulation on Nintendo platforms, with the version on the Gamecube’s Collector’s Edition and the Wii’s Virtual Console suffering from graphical glitches and regular crashes.

These issues aside, it’s an exciting announcement and we will have to watch this space to see if Nintendo have learnt from Ocarina of Time and their previous Majora’s Mask re-releases!
