Following Friday’s announcement from Nintendo that Majora’s Mask will be available on the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack in February it has come to light that there have been other changes to the service that have not been so widely communicated.

First noticed by @OatmealDome, Nintendo have patched what looks to be the underlying emulator on the NGO version of Ocarina of Time. Initially the focus has been on the weird fog and texture loading which, although not as good as the original N64 or Gamecube version, is a marked improvement on before.

In the original Twitter thread there’s an ongoing conversation about how everything is looking better, but still not as good as it should or could be. Below are to screenshots from the thread for comparison.

The Gamecube emulation version from ZethRyder

While not perfect by any means there’s a good improvement. It would also appear that some of the lag issues have been improved as well, but there’s still a long way to go before it’s what many would consider to be playable. Especially for a paid for service!
