If news that Project Zero 2: Wii Edition will be terrifying Wii gamers this year wasn’t enough for you, Nintendo have also announced that the 3DS spin off game Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir will be heading our way as well. We suggest stocking up on sleeping pills and underwear for this one, you’ll need it!

Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir has been created by Temco Koei in the exact same vein as the Project Zero series. A survival horror game where the only way to survive is to take pictures of ghosts to stop them from taking your soul. Using one of the 3DS’s many functions, Spirit camera puts you as the main character and the console as the camera.

Using the AR technology, you are given a AR notebook. The mission is easy, find a girl named Miya. To do this, scanning with the console to give a scary variety of experiences – some pages of the book come to life in the form of video segments that reveal past events and shed light on the game’s central mysterious storyline. Others appear to send spirits floating into players’ real-world surroundings. Some page even summons players to virtually enter a haunted house where Maya is hiding.

That is not all, away from the main story there is Spirit Photography, they can take photos at their leisure and watch as haunting visions appear within the pictures. Spirit Check, lets them snap pictures of themselves and their friends to uncover the eerie spirits that surround them. In Spirit Challenge, they can put their own face or a friend’s face on a spirit and then battle it.

Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir is already available in Japan and will launch in the US on 13th April and in Europe at some point in 2012 for the Nintendo 3DS.
