CD Projekt Red have confirmed that the next-gen (or current gen) upgrade for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be coming in December. Along with the native PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions, the older platforms will receive numerous bug fixes and additional content.

Players better mark their calendars as this update rolls out on the 14th December and is a free update to anyone who owns the game’s PS4 or Xbox One versions. Although the details on what form the Witcher takes will be revealed in the coming weeks, CD Projekt have confirmed that the game will feature dozens of visual, performance, and technical enhancements over the original.

Much like the next-gen update to Cyberpunk 2077 earlier in the year, expect ray tracing support and faster loading times on consoles. Mods will also be integrated into the game for the first time. Those playing on a PC, a patch with all these tasty extras will be applied so you don’t miss out.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Collection will include all previous DLC and is available at no extra cost, even for those players who have the base game only. Once the digital rollout has been completed, a physical edition will be released.

In addition to the next-gen release, the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch versions of The Witcher 3 will also get an update featuring numerous additions and improvements, as well as the Netflix Witcher-themed additional content. Again, CD Projekt are teasing us with a full reveal at a later date but for now, players can rest in the knowledge that Geralt finally has a date with the next generation of consoles.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Collection releases on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC on 14th December.
